Life & Food Garcinia Cambogia Supreme - Review

I generally don't take any supplements other than your typical vitamins, but with all the
Garcinia Cambogia hype, I figure that it is worth a try.

Since I didn't know much abut Garcinia Cambogia to begin with, I did a lot of research... you know... so I don't die or anything...

Garcinia Cambogia is a fruit native to Indonesia. You've probably heard of tamarind at some point in your life, Garcinia Cambogia is a type of tamarind that is usually referred to as "Malabar tamarind". It kinda looks like a pumpkin. Tamarind is used a lot in cooking for things like curry and fish curing. Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA) is the active ingredient in the rind. HCA has many benefits including blocking citrate lyase (an enzyme your body uses to make fat) and raising serotonin in the brain.

Now that we're educated, onward to the review.

The first thing I noticed about Life & Food Garcinia Cambogia Supreme is that it has a larger percentage of HCA (80%) than I've seen with other products while doing my research. The bottle is simple, no frills, with a dark green label and plenty of details and information about the supplement. I like the green label on the bottle because it stands out and is more noticeable to me.

Life & Food's Garcinia Cambogia Supreme contains no artificial ingredients, soy, wheat, shellfish, peanuts, dairy, stimulants or any additives. They have added calcium and potassium to help with absorption. Beyond that, it seems pure and high quality. The product itself looks great. The veggie caps are great quality as well. They aren't falling apart or discolored. The powder is a uniform color and texture. Overall, exactly what you would expect from a high quality supplement.

After taking this for several weeks, my results are mixed. I didn't experience any miraculous weight loss. But I did notice an increase in energy and I definitely FELT better while taking this. I would compare it to the feeling of taking vitamins for the first time (like B-12). I got that little boost of energy and wellness. On the other hand, my husband has taken this for just as long and has lost 5 lbs.

I can't honestly say how effective this will or will not be for anyone else. I think it depends on the person. What I can say is that Life & Foods is a high quality brand with a high quality product that is worth trying.

Pure Body Naturals Organic Argan Oil - Review

I recently got the opportunity to try
Pure Body Naturals Organic Argan Oil.

I use argan oil for several things, but mostly I use it for my hair. I dye my hair a bright red, so I always mix a bit with my conditioner to keep my hair smooth, shiny, and frizz free. I posted a pic of my hair even though it turned out a little pink. In real life, its bright red. Think "Ariel" from the little mermaid rather than the magenta it looks like in the picture. I'll try to get a different pic up when I have the time and maybe even a tutorial on how I dye it and manage it if anyone is interested.

Spur of the moment messy hair photo!

But anyway, there are so many uses for argan oil that it is one of the best things you could ever keep on hand. It is absolutely amazing for your skin, hair, and nails. If you're a first time user and worried about being "oily", don't be! Argan oil is a "dry" oil, which means that it will not leave any oily residue on your skin! I could go on and on about the uses and benefits, but a simple internet search can tell you everything you'd ever want to know.

I particularly like this Pure Body Naturals argan oil because of how pure it is
and because of the realistic packaging

What sets this argan oil apart from the rest is how very pure it is. It doesn't have the garish brown-yellow of lower quality argan oils that I have tried, and it also isn't mixed with any other oils or fragrances. This is just pure, organic argan oil. I'm becoming very partial to this brand of argan oil specifically because of how much faster it absorbs than other brands and because of how convenient the packaging is.

It comes in a dark colored bottle (to protect the oil from light). The bottle is pretty simple and includes helpful usage tips. It also shows right on the bottle that it is certified organic (by EcoCert), cruelty free, not tested on animals, and that the oil is imported from Morocco. It seems like a small, insignificant thing, but I can't tell you how many times I've seen products claim they're organic or cruelty free and there isn't any sign on the product itself. Seeing it on the bottle gives me more faith in the product and shows me they're proud of those features.

Anyway. When I call the packaging realistic, I mean that they understand how people use this oil and have made the packaging convenient and real. The bottle ships with a seperate glass dropper. This is truly unique to me because every other argan oil I've ever purchased either has a dropper as the lid or has no dropper. Pure Body Naturals has made sure that their packaging doesn't limit your usage options. You can use it with the rubber-sealed lid that comes on it, or you can replace that with the dropper lid they've included with it. This is especially useful if you've bought this argan oil for a specific purpose like me. I would use a dropper for argan oil that I am going to use on my skin/nails, but I would prefer to pour it out of the bottle for my hair or use a pump. It seems like Pure Body Naturals knows and understands how people use their products and wants happy customers. The only thing I can think of that would improve this packaging is if they included the dropper and a pump.

This oil does have a slight scent. When I compare the scent to other pure argan oils I've tried, it almost smells sour in the bottle where it should smell similar to olive oil. This isn't a big thing to me because I'm not even sure if it is the oil itself or if it is the bottle because it doesn't really have that scent when you use it.

All in all, this is a great argan oil. It has customer friendly packaging, and all the features you should look for in an argan oil. I would recommend it to anyone, whether they're a seasoned user or a new one. Pure Body Naturals delivers on both quality and convenience. They also have a lifetime 100% money back guarantee if you are not satisfied in any way, so its worth a try!

Dr. Song Rosehip Oil Review

I've used several different oils, but I've never used rosehip oil before or anything from Dr. Song. I've never even heard much about rosehip oil before, so this has been a learning experience all around for me.

A bit more about rosehip oil and then I'll continue onward to my review.
I want to make sure to provide some education on rosehip oil because I'm sure a lot of you haven't even heard of it before.

A quick Google search reveals that "rosehip seed oil is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are known to correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all while reducing scars and fine lines."

Digging deeper, I found that rosehip oil is extracted from the seeds of a wild rose bush.
Rose hip seed oil is high in the essential fatty acids linoleic acid (omega-6) and linolenic acid (omega-3). In case you (like me) are curious about everything on the planet,
 rosehip seeds look like this:

Digging even deeper, I found that you can use rosehip oil for a ton of different things like:
  • Pigment reduction
  • Healthy nails
  • To get shiny hair
  • As a hot oil treatment for dry hair
  • Moisturize and nourish dry skin
  • Dandruff
  • Scar reduction
  • Sunburn
  • Anti-aging
  • Improved complexion
  • Dermatitis
  • Acne
  • Eczema

So, now that we've all learned something, back to my review.
I'm pretty impressed with the quality of this rosehip oil because just about everything has SOMETHING added to it. Dr. Song's rosehip oil has no added oils or scents, it's USDA certified and it's organic. It doesn't stink, it doesn't smell unpleasant, and it doesn't have perfumes. If you are sensitive to fragrances in other oils, this is a great product for you.

I love the bottle that this comes in. Maybe I'm a sucker for blue glass bottles, but I think the blue glass coupled with the silver label is simple, pretty, and classy. I suppose the only negative thing I can say about the packaging is that it is so simple that it doesn't really include much information. The label tells you about the rosehip oil in general, but doesn't include any instructions, tips, or helpful uses. You'll have to turn to the internet for that. The bottle has a simple dropper, and pretty much anything that you only use a few drops of has the potential to last for a really long time, so the value is great.

My absolute favorite thing is how many different uses there are and I'm still discovering more uses. I've been using it for my acne scarring and mixing it with my nightly moisturizer.
I usually apply it directly to my scars in the morning. I've noticed that my scars appear lighter after a few weeks and I can only hope it will continue to improve the longer I use it.

At night when I go to bed, I mix a few drops with my moisturizer and apply to my whole face. My skin retains moisture much better and seems to have what I would consider a healthy glow. My fine lines even seem to be fading a little as well. If you're looking to use this as an anti-aging product, don't expect immediate results. From the information I gathered, you should use rosehip oil twice a day and you'll see results after a few months. It takes time for your skin to repair.

Even though this is an oil, it doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy and my skin hasn't been oily outside of my usual T-zone oiliness. This is a real plus for me because anything that has an oil in it usually makes me break out or it makes my skin oily. I haven't had any problems with this at all.

Bottom Line: Dr. Song's rosehip oil is great quality and a good value. A 4oz bottle should last a really long time, the price per ounce is comparable to other brands, and most other brands come in smaller sizes. It is effective for many things without having the negatives that come with other oils. I would recommend it and I will be continuing to use it myself.

If you want to try it for yourself, you can find it on Amazon.

Apothecary Tea Tree Oil Review

I'm new to tea tree oil. I'd heard of it before, but I'd never used it or even seen it in the store. What really impressed me about Apothecary Extracts tea tree oil is the ebook that shows you a bunch of different ways to use tea tree oil (including recipes). I was amazed that tea tree oil can be used for so many things like cleaning, skin care, and first aid. I've been mixing it with coconut oil because it makes a great hot oil treatment for my hair. I've also used it as a bug repellant! I'm trying some of the cleaning and aromatherapy recipes from the book next and I found some other really great ideas and recipes on Google that I want to try.

I love the bottle that it comes in. It reminds me of  "snake oil" and "elixer" bottles from long ago. I love how "old timey"  Apothecary Extracts portrays itself and really feels to me. The label is straight to the point instead of being gimmicky. The label clearly tells you what you're getting, popular uses, suggested uses, and warnings. Apothecary Extracts is factual about their tea tree oil. There are no taglines or slogans to try to make you buy the product it stands on its own feet. I'm going to throw up one of the images associated with the company below this (grabbed straight from Amazon) because I love it and I think it really goes to show what I mean by "old-timey".

I also really love the fact that Apothecary Extracts is pharmaceutical grade tea tree oil. It makes me feel better about using it because I know it is pure without added oils or chemicals. This bottle isn't "huge" but a little goes a very long way and I'm sure this will last me for years because you only use a few drops here and there. I got a 4oz bottle that runs around $20. After everything that I've tried, I still have an entirely full bottle. I would most definitely buy again. This is worth trying if you're looking for a high quality tea tree oil or if you're looking for chemical-free alternatives.

Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil is exclusively available on Amazon, so if you're looking to try it you can find it there.
