Petunia Skincare Professional 12 Set Makeup Brush Kit - Review

Here's my review of Petunia Skincare's Professional 12 Set Makeup Brush Kit.

These brushes come in a decent travel case/pouch with a magnetic button closure. The case is pretty stiff and doesn't lay flat when you first get it, but it should soften over time and be easier to lay open on a surface. It has a flap that lays over the brushes when it is closed to keep debris from getting in the bristles. If it loosens up, it is a great case because it has space that you could probably fit an extra brush or two if they've got small handles. It also rolls up to a manageable size. You can easily place it in most purses without using up too much space.

Each brush is individually wrapped in clear plastic when you first open it. I would definitely recommend washing them before you use them (as with any new brush), which you can easily do with soap or shampoo and water. You can also blow dry them if you don't have time to let them air dry. The brushes are made of natural (goat and pony hair) and synthetic hair. While the natural hair brushes seem to hold up rather well, the synthetic brushes can lose their shape very easily if you're not careful how you store them.

  This kit includes 12 brushes:

  • Powder brush
  • Blush brush
  • Foundation brush
  • Eyeshadow brush
  • Smudge brush
  • Fan brush
  • Concealer brush
  • Eyebrow brush
  • Eyeliner brush
  • Sponge applicator
  • Lip brush
  • Spoolie brush

It also comes with several brush guards that I haven't used yet but could really come in handy for helping your brushes keep their shape in and out of the case. I also really like that it comes with an instructional insert that identifies each brush, what it is used for, and most state which kind of hair they're made out of.

These brushes are supposed to be "professional studio quality".
Do I feel like these are TRUE professional quality? No. I don't.
Do I think they're good quality?
Definitely. They're better than most brushes you're going to get at a basic store like Walmart or Target, but they're not as good as what you'll get at a high-end store.

In all, these brushes are alright depending on what you're using them for. The variety of brushes that comes in the set is great. I don't think I've ever seen a kit that comes with this combination of brushes for the price. Really, you'll pay more for each brush individually for the same quality or fewer brushes. If you're looking for brushes that will do the job decently without costing a lot, these are perfect. If you're looking for professional brushes, these might not be for you unless you're looking to supplement brushes you already have or want additional brushes for travel.

Yalmeh Foundation Brush - Review

Yalmeh's Y19 foundation brush is my new favorite. I love everything about it.

It has the perfect combination of softness and firmness. The bristles are synthetic, but they don't shed, feel rough, or poke you. They actually feel really soft and smooth, and are firm enough to apply liquid foundation without having that hard, overly stiff feel like some other brushes. The tapered end is perfect for getting any area of your face.

You can use this for both powder and liquid foundation, I have even used it for finishing powder and it still worked great. I have had nothing but smooth and even application while using this brush.

Its really easy to wash and just as easy to use. It can take a while to dry after washing, but you can easily dry it with a blow dryer without causing any damage to the brush. It has a sturdy feel with a smooth wooden handle that feels nice in your hand.

Honestly, I could see this in any professional's kit. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality foundation brush. Hypoallergenic, Cruelty Free, Vegan Friendly, and backed by a 90-day money back guarantee, you really can't go wrong. I can't wait to try Yalmeh's other brushes!

If you're interested in checking them out for yourself, you can find it at Amazon or you can head to Yalmeh.com and explore everything that Yalmeh Peerless Beauty has to offer.

SheerCover Studio

I really love SheerCover Studio  products! I like that you can look and feel like you just got your makeup done by a professional without all the fuss. I had minimal problems with the products (which is weird because makeup is something you can mess up easily). But if you're not experienced with these types of products, it could take a few times to learn how to get it right or to keep it from looking cakey.

The primer works just as good as pricey name brands I've bought.
The brushes are high quality and make everything apply smoothly.

The Conceal & Brighten Trio is so fun to use once you get the hang of it. It blends easily and covers flaws perfectly. There are a lot of tutorials on the internet that can help you learn to conceal and contour!

The Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals are probably one of the greatest things I've ever used. You can highlight, bronze, "blush", or shine. It can be used in so many different ways to really compliment your face and skin tone. I love that it has 3 shades so you can use them together or separately.

The Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation is just as wonderful. It is light weight, soft, and doesn't feel or look cakey. I also felt like it really matched my skin tone and made my skin look smooth and flawless.

Now comes the fun part. The Lengthening Mascara and Lash Extending Fibers. I am a mascara professional, but I've never used fibers before. It definitely took some getting used to. You layer mascara and then cotton candy-like fibers on your eyelashes. It looks incredible, but if you've never used anything other than mascara or falsies, it can be interesting to learn how. You're probably going to end up with fibers in your eyes and then mascara down the side of your face from trying to rub them out! Don't worry! It comes off! You'll get the hang of it and it is totally worth the effort!

All in all, I recommend trying the SheerCover line. Its great for beginners or if you just want everything in a kit. You won't be disappointed! I'm giving SheerCover a 4/5 because I feel like there should be more product for the price, but it is still worth purchasing!
