Are you looking for a legitimate work at home opportunity

Focus Forward Transcription is looking for independent contractor transcribers. No experience is necessary other than a good grasp of English, grammar, and being able to type (the faster you type, the more you can complete). I also want to add that being good at Googling is a plus on this job because you may run across words and terms that you're unfamiliar with.

Audio ranges from focus groups, to medical, academic, legal and files for the entertainment industry. Assignments have a 24 hour turnaround, giving you plenty of time to complete. Their audio is usually pretty clear and you get to decide how much or little you take on. You have an account calendar that you can schedule how much audio you want per day. If particular formats are too difficult or time consuming, you can request that you no longer be assigned that particular format.

Focus Forward Transcription has its own platform, so there's no need to download or pay for any software (other than what's required for the test). Having Word, Excel, and Express Scribe is a bonus as you'll be able to take on more formats that could pay more, but it's not necessary. One of the best parts is they they provide training in the form of webinars to learn formatting and how to operate their platform. Formatting is not particularly confusing. If you're a reader, you'll recognize most formatting and grammar standards are the same as most books you've read.

Typical compensation is $0.40 to $0.65 per audio minute with audio that is around 5 to 30 minutes in length. This puts Focus Forward Transcription's pay at the mid-to-high end of non-specialized transcription. Pay is bi-weekly through PayPal, so you're able to transfer it to your bank account as well. You're not limited to gift cards or waiting months for a check like some transcription companies or survey companies.

You do have to take and pass a test. The test is transcribing a short audio file following instructions. You will need to download the free version of Express Scribe for this, and it must be in .doc or .docx format. If you have Word or an alternate suite already, great. If you do not have Word, you can use Word for free online through your Outlook account at Office online. After submitting your completed test, you usually get a response within a couple days to the email address you used to sign up.
